One thing that pisses me off about the Internet is the overwhelming lack of transparency when it comes to Affiliate programs.
I read a lot of blogs and websites and whenever they review a product and then link to that product, I always look and see if it’s an Affiliate Link.
An affiliate link, for those of you who don’t know, is a link that, when clicked on, pays the person who posted that link a percentage of the purchase price or flat fee should you purchase the product linked to.
Whenever there’s an affiliate link and it’s not disclosed as such, I’m always left to wonder if the review is genuine or did they just give a patently false great review to a product in the hopes that you would buy it and they could get their cut?
You never know, really.
But being the suspicious sort, I always figure that they’re just trying to make a buck by shilling shit that you might buy.
But that’s just me.
You might be the trusting sort, and that’s fine.
This page is my personal solution to that sticky issue.
This page is where I tell you, in no uncertain terms, that I do and will have affiliate links on this site.
If I review or recommend a product and then give you a link to it, it’s because I think it’s freakin’ cool or wonderful, not because I will get my cut of the purchase price should you decide to partake.
Trust me when I say that no one will ever get rich off the amazon affiliate program.
Well, let me rephrase that – I have yet to get rich off the amazon affiliate program. I think the most I have ever made is about $25 in one year. And of course, I turned around and spent the money on books from amazon.
Yeah, I’m a evil genius like that.
If you want to make me smile and make my Grinch heart grow a few sizes, then please think about buying one of my books. Or both of my books. They are, and will always be the focus here. Everything else is just jazz hands.
Should I join other affiliate programs, I will list them below, just so you know and you can make your decision to believe my review and make your purchase accordingly.
I’m not looking to make a million dollars a year from this site – not that I would turn it down – I’d just like to perhaps break even when it comes to the $99 a year I have to pay GoDaddy for the privilege of hosting it.
