Gaming

Not a great many things have been consistent in my 65 trips around the sun, but one thing has: my love of tabletop roleplaying games.

It seems like yesterday* that I discovered this wonderful hobby at my Local Comic Book Store, The Fandom Zone, in Tampa, Florida.

There, I discovered the many different worlds that one could play in – spies, superheroes, investigators, space pirates, elves, dwarves, the possibilities were endless.

The one that really stuck with me was Chaosium’s “Call of C’thulhu” game.

Besides being a dead easy D100/percentage based game, I love the whole Good Versus Evil aspect of it.  Sometimes good won (but at a cost) and sometimes, evil prevailed (but not completely).  Add to that the cosmic horror of H.P. Lovecraft and the primary time period of The Roaring Twenties, and well, I was hooked.

Since then, I’ve had dozens of players around my dining room table, rolling dice, eating junk food, cracking wise on each other, and just engaging in a fellowship, kindness and camraderie that seems to be missing these days.

Unfortunately, COVID (and me retiring to the state of Kentucky from Florida) killed my local gaming group, but I have kept up with the times and learned how to run games online via Roll20, Discord and other technological marvels.

If you’re running a game, I’d love to sit at your (virtual) table!

If you’d like to play in one of my games, get in touch through email or social media, and I’ll add you to my list.

I do encourage you to learn about this wonderful hobby; one that can last a lifetime**.

*It was 1981, I believe and trust me, that makes me feel OLD.
**If you’d like to learn more about Call of C’thulhu, I once had delusions of grandeur and tried to be a YouTube Influencer.  I know. It sounds awful, doesn’t it?  But I did make some videos!  You can see them, in all their nerdy glory, right here.
